Who can apply for BS Management & Data Science?

- Class 12 pass (or equivalent) in any year with English as a subject — any stream (Science, Commerce, Arts, Vocational).
- Class 10 must include English and Mathematics.

- Class 11 final exam appeared students can also apply; they can join after clearing Class 12.
- International students are eligible too; exams are conducted in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, UAE, plus remote proctored mode elsewhere.
How the Qualifier Exam works
There is no JEE-style entrance exam to begin with. Instead, IIT Madras uses a transparent four-step “learn first, then qualify” process that lets you experience the program before committing.

Online learning, in-person exams
Every course has three assessment components — keeping the rigour of an IIT degree while allowing flexible online learning.
- Weekly Online Assignments — average of best 5 of first 7 must be ≥ 40/100 to be eligible for the End Term Exam.
- Two Invigilated Quizzes — at the end of Weeks 4 and 8. At least one must be attempted; the Qualifier Exam score counts as Quiz-1 for Foundation courses.
- End Term Exam — 1.5-hour in-person paper. Conducted only on Sundays. Worth 50% of the total course score.
- Pass criteria — total score ≥ 40/100. Absolute grading: S, A, B, C, D, E (pass); U (fail); I (incomplete).
