MPSC AMVI Recruitment 2026: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has notified 461 posts of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI) (सहायक मोटार वाहन निरीक्षक) in the Home Department (Transport) through the Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2026 (Advertisement No. 017/2026). The corrigendum dated 6 November 2026 raised the total Group C vacancies to 16,717 and reopened applications. Applications are open from 13 to 27 November 2026 and the prelims will be held on 24 January 2027.

Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI) Eligibility: Educational Qualification

As per Annexure 3 of the corrigendum:

SSC (or equivalent) plus at least a 3-year diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering, or a degree in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering. Several diplomas and degrees are accepted as equivalent (for example Production, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Tool and Die). One year of full-time experience in repair and maintenance of light motor vehicles, heavy goods and heavy passenger vehicles in a recognised workshop is required; candidates who do not have it by the last date of the mains application must complete it during probation. A valid driving licence for motorcycle with gear, LMV and transport vehicles is required by the last date of the mains application; candidates without a heavy goods or heavy passenger vehicle licence must obtain it within the two-year probation. Physical standards: men at least 163 cm height and 79 cm chest with 5 cm expansion; women at least 155 cm height and 45 kg weight; no colour blindness.

MPSC AMVI Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

For Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI), age is calculated as on 1 October 2026.

For the cadres included in the original advertisement, the maximum age is 38 years for the open category and 43 years for backward/reserved categories, with other relaxations as per rules. Cadres added later follow the age limits in their recruitment rules. In addition, the General Administration Department GR dated 5 November 2026 gives a one-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for this exam. Always confirm your exact limit in the official advertisement.

The prelims is common for all 27 Group C cadres, including Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI).

Prelims syllabus (common)

• Marathi: grammar (sandhi, samas, prayog, vibhakti, alankar), vocabulary, idioms and proverbs, sentence correction, comprehension.
• English: grammar, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, sentence improvement, comprehension.
• General Knowledge: current events (national and international), history of modern India with special reference to Maharashtra, geography of Maharashtra and India, Indian polity and Panchayat Raj, economics (national income, banking, planning, government economic policy), general science (physics, chemistry, biology, health and hygiene).
• Intelligence Test: analogies, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, directions, puzzles, non-verbal reasoning.
• Arithmetic: percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time and distance, number system.

New applicants

2. Open the Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2026 advertisement (No. 017/2026).
3. Click Check Eligibility, then choose the cadres you are eligible for.
4. Upload documents as required by the original advertisement and pay the fee online (debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI) by 30 November 2026.

Candidates who already applied

1. Log in and open My Account.
2. Click View against advertisement 017/2026, then Recheck Eligibility.
3. Tick the new cadres in the right-hand column, then click Apply and Submit.
4. No fresh fee is needed. Your original claims (category, etc.) cannot be changed, and options not submitted by 27 November 2026 cannot be changed later.

Application Fee

As per the original advertisement, the prelims fee is ₹394 for the open category and ₹294 for backward/reserved categories (₹44 for ex-servicemen). Payment is accepted only online: debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. Challan payment is no longer available. Candidates who already applied do not pay again to select new cadres.
