MPSC Clerk-Typist Recruitment 2026: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has notified 3,966 posts of Clerk-Typist (लिपिक-टंकलेखक) in the Various Departments (various appointing authorities) through the Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2026 (Advertisement No. 017/2026). The corrigendum dated 6 November 2026 raised the total Group C vacancies to 16,717 and reopened applications. Applications are open from 13 to 27 November 2026 and the prelims will be held on 24 January 2027.

The 6 November 2026 corrigendum lists 3,966 posts of Clerk-Typist in the Various Departments (various appointing authorities). Clerk-Typist Eligibility: Educational Qualification

As per Annexure 3 of the corrigendum:

A degree from a recognised university, or a qualification declared equivalent by the Government of Maharashtra.

For this post you must also hold the typing qualification specified in para 3.3.5 of the original advertisement (Government Commercial Certificate in Marathi and/or English typing). A typing skill test is part of the selection process, so begin practice early.

MPSC Clerk-Typist Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

For Clerk-Typist, age is calculated as on 1 October 2026.

For the cadres included in the original advertisement, the maximum age is 38 years for the open category and 43 years for backward/reserved categories, with other relaxations as per rules. Cadres added later follow the age limits in their recruitment rules. In addition, the General Administration Department GR dated 5 November 2026 gives a one-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for this exam. Always confirm your exact limit in the official advertisement.

The prelims is common for all 27 Group C cadres, including Clerk-Typist.

Prelims syllabus (common)

• Marathi: grammar (sandhi, samas, prayog, vibhakti, alankar), vocabulary, idioms and proverbs, sentence correction, comprehension.
• English: grammar, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, sentence improvement, comprehension.
• General Knowledge: current events (national and international), history of modern India with special reference to Maharashtra, geography of Maharashtra and India, Indian polity and Panchayat Raj, economics (national income, banking, planning, government economic policy), general science (physics, chemistry, biology, health and hygiene).
• Intelligence Test: analogies, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, directions, puzzles, non-verbal reasoning.
• Arithmetic: percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time and distance, number system.

New applicants

1. Go to mpsconline.gov.in and register or log in.
2. Open the Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2026 advertisement (No. 017/2026).
3. Click Check Eligibility, then choose the cadres you are eligible for.
4. Upload documents as required by the original advertisement and pay the fee online (debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI) by 30 November 2026.

Candidates who already applied

1. Log in and open My Account.
2. Click View against advertisement 017/2026, then Recheck Eligibility.
3. Tick the new cadres in the right-hand column, then click Apply and Submit.
4. No fresh fee is needed. Your original claims (category, etc.) cannot be changed, and options not submitted by 27 November 2026 cannot be changed later.

Application Fee

As per the original advertisement, the prelims fee is ₹394 for the open category and ₹294 for backward/reserved categories (₹44 for ex-servicemen). Payment is accepted only online: debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. Challan payment is no longer available. Candidates who already applied do not pay again to select new cadres.
